Homeless could be the most saddening sight in this beautiful, historical and cultural-rich city of George Town, Penang. When all the buzz and hype ease at night, there will be an unmistakable sight of men and women, and sometimes, even children, lingering around, searching the best spot for the night. It could be under the bridge, or by the road side, or just
anywhere that provides a basic shelter; simply because this group of people has no home to turn to. Hunger, sickness and sometimes even death, is not uncommon. And we believe, we could lend a pair of helping hands.
'Jack in the Box' is a platform for local artists and graphic designers to come together, share ideas and collaborate. In Penang, we want to do more for our society. In collaboration with Kawan Penang and New World Park, we proposed a non-profit art event to raise fund for the alarming number of homeless in Penang. This piece of proposal wills the catalyst.
20 invited local artistes/ designers will be given a pair of canvas shoes sponsored by Shoepoint, these ingeniously designed canvas shoes will be exhibited and sold to interested buyers at the event, and all proceeds will goes to Kawan Penang in aids of their daily expenses.
