It goes without saying (now, that is a paradox, isn't it, because it will be said anyway) that designers are creative and will continue to produce new designs. An artist/craftperson designs as a form of expressing his/her thoughts and feelings.
But, some produce their designs to earn a living, or at the very least to pay for their hobbies. These designs can be sold ether as a one of a kind finished product or it can be as a pattern or DIY instructions.
I have come across articles on how to price a finished product, which in brief, takes into account the material cost and time spent to produce a product. But, how would you cost a pattern or instruction for a creative work? I have never actually thought about this, even though I have produced patterns of my own designs.
Therefore, I was excited to come across this blog article that talked about this. This is the link to the article,
http://notsogranny.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/tidkt-how-much-it-costs-to-put-design.html
Even though the article refers to a specific craft, I think it applies to almost all other creative work. Please read the comments too, as some of them have valid points as well.
